Following the success of the Community-Led Housing and Self-Build Conference in June, Dover District Council is set to continue a programme of free community housing training with a range of free training opportunities over the summer.
A training session on Development Funding for Community-Led Housing with David Ahlquist from Locality is being held on Saturday 20 July from 10.30am-1pm at the Dover Big Local offices in Dover.
There will also be training sessions in August with Kathy Roddy from Medway Voluntary Action who will be running split workshop sessions on Running Successful Fundraising Events from 9.30pm-1pm over two days on Saturday 10 August and Saturday 24 August at Eastry Village Hall.
This follows the success of the Community-Led Housing and Self-Build Conference at The Ark in Dover on 18 June. Dover, Folkestone and Hythe, and Thanet District Councils, and Canterbury City Council joined forces to deliver the free event. The day brought together community groups, land owners, developers, consultants and experts, and provided a range of practical information and advice.
Cllr Sue Chandler, DDC Cabinet Member for Housing, said: “Thank you to all those who attended this year’s conference and helped to make it such a success. We want to help community-led housing projects move forward, and are providing a range of help and information for communities. If anyone is interested in finding out more, we would really like them to get involved, and we hope our summer courses will be helpful.”
All training courses are free to attend but pre-booking is essential through the community-led housing pages on the DDC website.
