A bar on Dover Market Square is giving a warm welcome to news that it is the latest business to be awarded a grant under Dover District Council’s Town Centre Business Grant Scheme – as the Elephant and Hind returns to Dover.
The new owners of the Elephant and Hind, which opened last week, have been awarded a grant of £10,000 from DDC to help with refurbishment costs.
DDC’s grant scheme offers grants of up to £10,000 to bring commercial properties back into use, or up to £1,000 to upgrade or improve the appearance of commercial properties in designated town centre areas in Dover, Deal and Sandwich.
Harry Richardson from the Elephant and Hind: “We are delighted to reopen and aim to provide the Market Square and the community with a relaxed and welcoming venue. We will be serving locally sourced food, as well as providing a variety of entertainment including live music. We would like to thank DDC for their support and are excited to be part of the regeneration of this wonderful town.”
Cllr Stephen Manion, DDC Cabinet Member for Finance said: “This is another great example of how Dover District Council’s Town Centre Business Grant Scheme can help to support local business and continue to regenerate our town centres. Grants are available now to support local businesses, and we would encourage anyone who is eligible to apply.”
