42 local community groups and projects to benefit

Dover District Council has awarded £23,000 to 42 local community groups and projects from the winter round of its Community Grants Scheme.

In total, DDC has awarded over £117,000 in grants in 2020, providing vital funding to 124 local groups across the district.  This included special grants from the Covid-19 Community Fund which was supported by a public fundraising campaign.

Cllr Nigel Collor, cabinet member for community services, said: “Local groups and projects have faced an incredibly challenging year.  Many of them have risen to the challenge with new services to support the most vulnerable members of the community and to keep vital community and voluntary services going throughout the pandemic."

“Through our Community Grants Scheme and the Dover District Lotto, we’re delighted to help sustain these outstanding community groups.”

The Dover District Lotto has contributed an additional £17,000 to the grants programme in 2020.
