Generating Success as Dartford Borough and Dover District Councils Work Together

EE awards 1

A key partnership promoting and installing energy efficiency measures has been recognised after Dartford Borough and Dover District Councils won the Regional Council or Local Authority Body of the Year award for the second year running.

The two councils working together won the award in the Regional Energy Efficiency Awards for the South East. The award celebrates the partnership working between the councils for showing a true commitment to promoting energy efficiency, and recognises the work of the Councils and their service to local communities.

The award recognises a number of projects and funding streams that have been successfully rolled out, including Home Upgrade Grants, the Energy Company Obligation (ECO4), the Household Support Fund and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. These grants focus on helping low-income households or those in receipt of certain benefits and living in a poorly insulated home to achieve more affordable warmth.

Dover District Council, Dartford Borough Council and Aran Insulation were also Highly Commended in the Regional Large Scale Project category for the second year running for delivering energy efficiency measures of more than £250,000 locally, (branded as Sustainable Warmth). This is in recognition of the Councils’ partnership and contractor delivering a successful large-scale project, while maintaining excellent customer service and a high standard of quality workmanship.

The Beehive in Dover, (a women’s second-hand clothing boutique and café working with local services to offer support to women), also benefitted from this partnership having received £1,500 funded through Aran Insulation’s social value grant.

The Councils were presented with their awards at a special ceremony earlier in March.

Cllr Sue Beer, DDC Cabinet Member for Environment and Climate Change, said: “We are delighted to have received this award and commendation.  It has been a pleasure to work with Dartford Borough Council and partners, and we are very pleased to see this excellent work recognised in this way for the second year running. We remain committed to working with all partners to continue to protect the environment, to help local communities, and to work towards a greener future.”
