Rules and Regulations

We want everyone to enjoy our parks and open spaces safely and respectfully. To help protect these spaces and ensure they remain welcoming for all visitors, please follow the rules:

• Consider other visitors and keep noise to an appropriate level
• No dogs allowed in play areas, multi-use games areas or skate parks
• Pet owners are required to pick up after their pets and use the appropriate bins provided
• No open fires
• Barbeques are only allowed in designated areas
• No metal detecting or excavation of parkland without permission
• No swimming in ponds, rivers, or lakes
• No golf
• Ball games to be played in designated open areas only
• No release of sky lanterns and balloons
• No petrol based or remote controlled vehicles including drones, cars, and boats without permission

Further rules and regulations may apply to specific parks and open spaces.

Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPOs)

Our parks and open spaces are also covered by Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPOs). These orders help address activities that can negatively affect the enjoyment of public spaces and local communities.

The current PSPO includes a number of measures relating to dog control and unauthorised camping, including:

• Dogs being excluded from enclosed children's play areas
• Dogs being required to remain on leads in certain churchyards and cemeteries
• Dog owners being required to clean up after their dogs
• Dog owners being required to place their dog on a lead when directed by an authorised officer
• Unauthorised camping not being permitted on public land
