Dover District Council Tenders For Proposed CCTV Upgrade

 

Dover District Council is tendering for the phased digital upgrade of its district wide CCTV system.  The proposed investment includes new cameras and control room, and the extension of CCTV coverage to support the growing community in Aylesham.  

DDC currently operates a network of 49 fixed and mobile CCTV cameras covering key town centre locations in Dover, Deal and Sandwich 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  The system was introduced in 1994 and needs to be updated to a more modern, wi-fi enabled system. 

Cllr MJ Holloway, Cabinet Member for Community Services, said: “CCTV plays an important part in keeping our town centres and communities safe, both as a deterrent and an important evidence gathering tool.  Our hard working control room staff play a key role in supporting the police and other local agencies in keeping our streets safe.        

“Our CCTV infrastructure needs updating to ensure we can continue to provide this valuable service.  This will be a major investment in our town centres so we’re also taking the opportunity to see how this planned investment could support the growing trend for digitally connected high streets.” 

Details of the planned investment in CCTV are still subject to Cabinet approval with the aim of the new system being introduced by the end of March 2019.

Businesses interested in tendering for the contract should register their interest online at the Kent Business Portal (www.kentbusinessportal.org.uk). Tender returns are required by 5pm on 3 August 2018.
