Shop Local With Free Parking On Black Friday And Small Business Saturday

Forget online shopping this Black Friday and Small Business Saturday, Dover District Council is encouraging people to shop local by offering free parking in DDC owned off-street car parks on Friday 23 November and Saturday 1 December 2018.

Black Friday (23 Nov) is the name given to the shopping day after Thanksgiving Day in the United States, and is often seen as the beginning of the Christmas shopping period. It has become a day to find real deals, so why not check out the town centres in Dover, Deal and Sandwich, while exploring Dover District, and enjoy Black Friday in White Cliffs Country.

Small Business Saturday (1 Dec) is designed to raise the profile of small business across the UK, and is being supported by DDC for the sixth year running. Small Business Saturday encourages consumers to ‘shop local’ and to support small businesses in their communities. The day takes place on the first Saturday in December each year.

DDC is offering free parking in its off-street car parks on Friday 23 November and Saturday 1 December. This offer will not apply to on-street parking places or car parks that are privately owned, such as Sainsbury’s and the Co-op in Deal.  All other parking restrictions continue to apply.

Cllr Nigel Collor, DDC Cabinet Member for Access said: “We are delighted to support Small Business Saturday again this year, and to introduce free parking on Black Friday to encourage people to explore the great range of shops across the district.

“We urge people working and living in the town centres to join with us in the spirit of this offer by parking where they usually do to allow customers of town centre businesses to take advantage of the free parking.”
