Contractor Appointed For Key Housing Development At William Muge & Snelgrove Site

As part of our ongoing commitment to invest in housing solutions for the district, Dover District Council has awarded the contract for the major redevelopment of the William Muge/Snelgrove House site in Harold Street, Dover.

The contract for the works has been awarded to Jenner Contractors Limited in Folkestone.  Enabling works have already started, and the main phase of works is set to start in June 2019, and is due to be completed by December 2020.

This key housing development is on a site owned by DDC, and is set to include 29 shared ownership apartments, 24 social housing apartments, and 12 town houses.

DDC Cabinet agreed to proceed with the development on 1 October 2018. Planning consent was obtained, and Council agreed to release funding. DDC undertook a range of consultation work on proposals, including a community event in July 2018.

Cllr Pauline Beresford, DDC Cabinet Member for Housing, said: “We were delighted to award this contract and to move forward with these exciting plans. We remain committed to developing a range of quality housing across the district, and this is another important step in delivering the housing solutions we need for the future.”
