A couple has been welcomed to their new home in Capel-le-Ferne as the buyers of the first Dover District Council shared ownership property.

Abi Moffatt and James Sheppard have purchased one of three homes in George Close, Capel-le-Ferne, which is the first shared ownership scheme that DDC has entered into in order to help first time buyers get onto the housing ladder.

An additional six houses were also recently purchased by DDC at Capel-le-Ferne, which were allocated to families on the Council’s housing register.

Abi Moffatt said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to be home-owners at last. We are over the moon with our lovely new house."

Mike Davis, DDC Director of Finance, Housing and Community said: “We are very pleased to welcome Abi and James to their new home. The purchase of these properties is another effective way for DDC to deliver more affordable housing, and we are delighted to see families moving into their new homes.”
