Just three months after it was launched, more than 95 local causes throughout the Dover district stand to benefit from the Dover District Lotto.  More than 17,000 tickets have been sold to date, putting it on track to generate in the region of £40,000 for local good causes in its first year.  Local good causes signed up so far include, Cherished Gowns UK, Sandwich in Bloom, Deal Walmer & Kingsdown Amateur Rowing Club, and the 1st Eythorne Rainbows.

Dave Allen, Development Manager of the Dover Sharks Rugby Football Club, said: “We’ve certainly enjoyed being part of the Dover District Lotto and we’re definitely reaping the benefits.  Thanks to our lottery supporters we’ve already raised over £500 that will help the Club to develop our community rugby activities over the next 12 months.”

Some groups are already doing well. Hougham Village Hall Trust are set to generate more than £1,400 this year which will help maintain the hall and expand the range of  activities on offer at this important local hub; just one of many examples where the Dover District Lotto is helping the community.

Cllr MJ Holloway, DDC’s portfolio holder for community services, said: “The Dover District Lotto has already proved to be a great success.  With 60p in the £1 going direct to local good causes, it’s providing a regular income stream for them that’s making a real difference in the local community.”
