An exciting new development of 31 contemporary homes is underway in Lydden with leading Kent-based developer, Pentland Homes.  The first eight plots on the 1.45ha brownfield site off Canterbury Road in Lydden are expected to be completed by December 2020. The site was allocated for residential development in Dover District Council’s Land Allocations Local Plan, adopted in 2015.

Karrina Oki, Sales & Marketing Director, Pentland Homes, said: “We’re delighted to be building new homes in Dover again following the success of our Elysium Park development in Whitfield.  Lydden is a fantastic rural location, with easy access to Dover which is just two miles away, and the high-speed link to St Pancras.”

The development features a new, contemporary house type for Pentland Homes, designed to complement the rural setting and to take advantage of the views across the valley which overlooks an area of outstanding natural beauty and a special area of conservation.  Some of the buildings will have a distinctive flat ridge roof in a nod to the traditional Kent Oast House.

The 3- and 4- bedroom homes have been carefully designed with the modern family home buyer in mind, and the development includes a range of community amenities, including a pocket park and nature walk.

Cllr Nick Kenton, DDC’s Cabinet Member for Planning, said: “As we develop the new Local Plan this is an excellent example of how we can work with developers to deliver sensitive development of new homes in rural communities, and bring brownfield sites back into use.

“We’re delighted that Pentland Homes, as a local developer, continues to see opportunities in the Dover district.”
