Resurfacing Works In Middle Street Car Park - Set To Make A Great Deal Of Improvement

Important works to resurface the Middle Street Car Park in Deal are set to start on 18 February – and DDC is working closely with the local community and businesses to minimise any disruption.

The work is being split into three phases and is due to take 6 weeks. We plan to keep half of the car park open for phases one and two.  We will need to close the entire car park for the final phase, when the entrance/exit road is being resurfaced, but it is intended that this will only be for three days, (26, 27, and 28 February).

DDC is working closely with local businesses, some of which use the car park for deliveries and waste collections, to identify alternative arrangements where possible, and to work together to address any issues that might arise. DDC is writing to affected business and residents, and will be putting up signage in the area.

The work is being carried out by local contractors, Ovenden Allworks.  Other DDC car parks in the town will remain open.

Martin Leggatt, DDC Head of Assets said: “The surface of the Middle Street Car Park is nearly 25 years old, and because of the heavy usage it gets, it needs to be completely resurfaced. We are doing everything we can to keep disruption to a minimum, including carrying out the works during the quieter time of year. We apologise for any inconvenience caused, and thank the local community in advance for bearing with us while we undertake this important work.”
