Cllr MJ Holloway, Deputy Leader of Dover District Council and portfolio holder for community services, said: “The local voluntary support effort throughout this national emergency has been incredible.  Local groups across the district are putting in a heroic effort to help the most vulnerable people in their communities with everything from hot meals to a friendly voice at the end of the phone.

“This is a marathon not a sprint, and we’re still looking for local groups to support.  We’d also welcome donations to the fundraising appeal that is helping to keep this massive voluntary effort going.”

Online donations to the fundraising appeal can be made through the Dover District Council website.  Members of the public have generously donated over £2,500 through the crowding campaign.

The latest corporate donors to the appeal include Discovery Park and Willmott Dixon with corporate donations now standing at over £18,000.  DDC launched the Covid-19 Community Fund with a £50,000 contribution.

Local projects working to support vulnerable people during the coronavirus outbreak can apply for grants of up to £2,500 online
