Plans for 135 new homes on the remainder of the former Buckland paper mill site in Dover have been submitted to Dover District Council by Homes England, the government’s housing accelerator.
Phase one of the regeneration of Buckland Mill has seen the setting of the historic mill building retained with a stylish loft-style living residential and commercial conversion by Homes England’s development partner Gillcrest Homes. A new Co-op store opens on Friday, 2 October as part of the rejuvenation of the site.
The latest redevelopment plans for the remaining 2.3 ha brownfield site aim to enhance the riverside setting to create an attractive and sustainable new neighbourhood.
A revitalised River Dour corridor lies at the heart of the proposals, including the introduction of riverbanks, the creation of new riverside walks, habitats and a new pedestrian footbridge.
The site will soon be ready for marketing and redevelopment with the last remaining building, the former combined heat and power plant recently demolished by Homes England’s contractors, Kent-based demolition contractors DDS Demolition.
