Royal St Georges hosts The 149th Open in 2020
From 12-19 July 2020 the Open be hosted at Royal St George’s in Sandwich for the first time since 2011 and will showcase the world's best players competing for the Claret Jug.
Attracting tens of thousands of spectators, The Open is one of the UK’s largest sporting events and the biggest sporting event to be hosted in Kent. Its planning, organisation and delivery is a major logistical exercise.
The plans for 2020 include major improvements to Sandwich railway station so that it can accommodate 12-carriage high speed trains without causing disruption at the Dover Road level crossing.
