The 149th Open
Royal St Georges to host The 149th Open
From 12-19 July 2020 The Open will be hosted at Royal St George’s in Sandwich for the first time since 2011 and will showcase the world's best players competing for the Claret Jug.
Attracting tens of thousands of spectators, The Open is one of the UK’s largest sporting events and the biggest sporting event to be hosted in Kent. Its planning, organisation and delivery is a major logistical exercise.
The plans for 2020 include major improvements to Sandwich railway station so that it can accommodate 12-carriage high speed trains without causing disruption at the Dover Road level crossing.
Buying Tickets for The Open
If you're planning a visit to The Open its important that you only buy tickets from official sources, including TheOpen.com or The R&A's Authorised Ticket Providers.
Any tickets made available on websites such as Viagogo, Safetickets.net, Stubhub, eBay and Gumtree are done so without the permission of The R&A and as such, may be refused entry to the Championship.
Green Initiatives Grant Programme
As part of the Legacy investment into Sandwich for The 149th Open, The R&A has worked with Dover District Council, Sandwich Town Council and Kent County Council to establish a Green Initiatives Grant Programme.
