Set up a Neighbourhood Area

Once a Parish or Town Council has made the decision to proceed with a neighbourhood plan for their area and discussed this with the Council, they must apply to the Council to designate the neighbourhood area.
To designate a neighbourhood area, you must send in the following:
  • a map identifying the area you want designated - a ‘neighbourhood area’
  • a statement explaining why this area is considered appropriate for designation
  • a statement that the organisation or body is either:
    • (i) a parish council/ town council, or
    • (ii) capable of being designated as a neighbourhood forum

Please send applications to:

  • Planning Policy, Dover District Council, Council Offices, White Cliffs Business Park, Dover CT16 3PJ​

Once received, the application will be considered by the Council in accordance with the prescribed timescales before designation.
