Request

  1. Is there a set standard/timeframe for the replacement of a street name plate when one is reported/missing?
  2. Are street name plates ordered when only a certain number are required or as and when know to be missing?  For example, when six are needed to maybe reduce costs?
  3. Who is the current contractor who undertakes this work?
  4. How many new street name plates have been installed in Dover in the last twelve months?
  5. How many street name plates are currently on order for Dover roads and what are the road names?

Response

  1. The Council does not have a set time frame but act to replace any street nameplates as soon as reasonably practicable.  However, this is governed by lead times with the manufacturer, contractor’s working schedule and permit highway approval.
  2. Street name plates are ordered when there are around ten signs required – this is due to the lead time with manufacture and delivery of the signs as well as ensuring that the contractor has enough for a day’s work.
  3. Archway Highway Services Limited.
  4. From 1 November 2024 there have been 28 signs installed with ten due to be installed on 3 December 2025.
  5. Ten signs are awaiting installation on 3 December 2025 at Alexandra Place, Corunna Place, Maison Dieu Road, Park Street, Manor Rise, Poulders Road, St Margarets Drive, Dolphin Passage and Sole Close (two signs).
