Past Leaders of the Council

Since the Local Government Act 2000, Dover District Council adopted a new decision-making structure in the form of a Leader and Cabinet (also known as 'Executive') model of decision-making. The executive model of decision-making places responsibility for most day-to-day functions of the Council with the Leader and the Cabinet, although some functions are reserved for the full Council and specified Committees. As part of this Executive model, the Council elects a councillor to be the Leader of the Council.

Prior to the Local Government Act 2000, the Council did not formally elect a Leader of the Council but the Chairman of the Policy and Resources Committee usually acted as Leader of the Council.
