The affordable housing developments detailed on this page have been built. Residents who are interested in living in any of the new affordable rented properties, must register their interest on the Council's choice based letting system Kent Home Choice. Further information about getting a home can be found on the Dover District Council Housing Needs Getting a Home webpage

This site of previously unused land completed in July 2023 and now provides a pair of 3 bedroom semi-detached family homes let at affordable rents to local people.

Both properties will be owned and managed by DDC.


Napchester Road, Whitfield, CT16 3JD

The new site in Whitfield completed in March 2023 and provides 26 new affordable homes for local people charged at affordable rent. The development comprises of 1 and 2 bedroom flats, 2, 3 and 4 bedroom houses and one 5 bedroom house which has been designed to provide accommodation for a household with some additional support needs. Two of the 1 bedroom flats will also be wheel chair accessible.

All the properties are owned and managed by DDC.


Walter Hammond Close, Dover, CT16 2JW (formerly Kimberley Close)

This new site completed in January 2023 and provides the Council with 16 new studio flats. 

The new homes will be let at social rents and will provide interim housing for local people facing homelessness. The project forms part of the Council’s commitment to develop its own interim housing to reduce the reliance on B&B accommodation.

The new homes will be let at social rents and will provide interim housing for local people facing homelessness. The project forms part of the Council’s commitment to develop its own interim housing to reduce the reliance on B&B accommodation.

This new development on St Richards Road in Deal completed in April 2022 and compirses of 2 x 2 bed shared ownership houses and 2 x 2 bed and 2 x 3 bed houses for affordable rent. All 6 properties are owned and managed by DDC. 

Shared Ownership is a scheme that helps you buy your own home if you can't quite afford the mortgage on 100% of a property and offers you the chance to buy an initial share between 25% and 75% of the market value of the property. This development offers a stunning mix of new Shared Ownership, affordable rent and open market properties for sale. They are within walking distance from the magnificent coastal White Cliffs of Dover and are close to the town centre.  

The two new buildings at the former William Muge House and Snelgrove House, Leyborne Road, Harold Street and Godwyne Road were designed by Avanti Architects and built by Exemplar Homes.

On the former William Muge site, there are 29 Shared Ownership apartments and 3 open market properties for sale. All the Shared Ownership properties have been sold.

On the former Snelgrove site, there are 9 open market properties for sale and 24 apartments for social rent. The 24 apartments are owned and managed by DDC.

This is a development of 8 flats on Folkestone Road, Dover, which was completed on January 2021 and owned by DDC. The homes are let at affordable rents and provide interim housing for local people facing homelessness.

The project was funded with the support of the Homes England 'Move On Fund' and forms part of the Council’s commitment to develop its own interim housing to reduce the reliance on Bed & Breakfast accommodation. 

The building is named after Dover-born sportsman, Cuthbert Ottaway, who captained England in their first football match, and also played cricket for Kent and England.


 George Close, Capel-Le-Ferne, CT18 7UB

The new prestigious development (Grasslands) is situated in the increasingly popular costal village of Capel-le-Ferne. The development is close to the coastline and the village has been described as one of the best locations on the Kent Coast, boasting idyllic family village life with far reaching views across the English Channel and perched on top of the White Cliffs.  

Dover District Council purchased 9 properties at this new development. 3 of the houses purchased were for Shared Ownership and 6 houses were for affordable rent.
