Work Experience Enquiries Temporarily Paused
Thank you for your interest in completing work experience with Dover District Council.
We have received a very high number of requests recently and are temporarily pausing new enquiries while we process the applications already received.
We value the enthusiasm shown by local residents and young people, and we will reopen for new enquiries as soon as capacity allows.

We welcome requests from students who wish to complete work experience at the council.
We understand the importance of providing people with exposure to real-world working environments and different career options, developing practical skills and confidence.
Our departments have hosted a number of students from schools, colleges and universities across Kent. Get in touch and we will do our best to accommodate you.
How to apply
Send an email to hr@dover.gov.uk with the details of your:
- name
- education provider
- qualification being studied
- preferred dates
- preferred departments or areas of work.
HR will contact the relevant departments to find out if a placement is available.
Things to consider:
- submit your request at least 1 month before the expected period of work experience to allow enough time for the placement to be considered
- placements will be limited during peak holiday periods
- due to high demand, placements during May - August will be considered on a first come first serve basis.
