Cabinet members at Dover District Council have approved the district’s Local Development Scheme (LDS).

The LDS is the timetable for the production of the new Local Plan, which sets out the vision and framework for future development in the district up to 2040.

It provides the public with information on the process and timetable for the preparation of documents that will form the Plan.

The approval of the LDS signals a move into the next phase of the Local Plan review, with councillors due to consider the submission version of the document at a Full Council meeting in October.

The document will then be published for a seven-week consultation when public engagement events will be held both virtually and in-person at locations across the district.

Following the consultation, the submission version will be sent to the Planning Inspectorate alongside the responses received to the consultation and supporting documentation.

The Inspectorate will then carry out independent examination in public of the Plan.

Keep an eye on New Dover District Local Plan for updates and to sign up to be notified when the consultation commences.
