Dover District Council has confirmed that it is to appoint Sports and Leisure Management Ltd, part of which is Everyone Active, to manage the operation of the new multi million pound Deal Leisure Centre.

This follows news last month that DDC’s Cabinet gave the final go ahead for the £20m leisure centre to be built, meaning it was all systems go for the new facility.  Construction is set to begin following the demolition now well underway.

A six lane pool, gym, health and fitness studios, pool inflatable fun sessions and a toddler splash pad as well as a café are all set for the new centre, which will also offer enhanced accessibility, including a new platform lift and changing places facility.

Everyone Active* will take on the management of the new Deal Leisure Centre and are set to begin long term operations for the indoor tennis centre and sports hall facilities from 1 April 2026, with full opening of the new centre summer 2027.

The operator was founded in 1987 and currently manage around 230 leisure centres in partnership with 69 local authority and trusts across England.

Cllr Kevin Mills, Leader of DDC, said: “We very much look forward to working with Everyone Active to deliver the new Deal Leisure Centre. We welcome their commitment to work together to transform the wellbeing of communities in which they work and have been impressed by their passion for the future of the centre.”

Duncan Cogger, Regional Contract Manager at Everyone Active, said: “We are delighted that Dover District Council is to appoint us to operate the new Deal Leisure Centre. This landmark project represents a major investment in the future health and wellbeing of the community, and we’re proud to play a key role in bringing it to life.

“The new centre will provide high-quality, inclusive and accessible opportunities for everyone to get active - from families and young people to older adults and those new to exercise. Working in partnership with the council, we look forward to creating a welcoming space that encourages people to be active, improve their wellbeing and enjoy everything the new facility has to offer for many years to come.”
