Dover District Council has updated a key document setting out how people can get involved in all aspects of the planning process – and your views are sought.
The draft Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) has been updated and is now available for public comment. The consultation will run for six weeks, from Wednesday 16 July until midnight Tuesday 26 August.
The document includes how to get involved in the preparation of planning policy and guidance documents, neighbourhood planning, and consultation on planning applications. This SCI will update the previous SCI, which was adopted in 2019.
Everyone who lives, works, runs businesses and studies in a place is affected by the planning system. The council is committed to involving local communities and other stakeholders in planning matters, so they can help shape development in our district.
We welcome your views to help shape this document, before the final version is brought to Council to consider for adoption.
The draft SCI 2025 can be viewed and commented on through the Consultation Portal at Consultation Home - Keystone. Alternatively, paper copies are available at the DDC offices in Whitfield, or the six local libraries in Ash, Aylesham, Deal, Dover, Sandwich and St. Margaret’s, along with hard copy comment forms.
Cllr Edward Biggs, DDC Cabinet Member for Planning and Built Environment said: “DDC is committed to involving local communities and all our partners in planning for the future so they can help shape the environment in our district. This important document sets out how we continue to take this forward, and we hope people will take this chance to have their say on our updated Statement of Community Involvement.”
