How we set fees for property searches
Under Regulation 9 (1) of the Local Authorities (England)(Charges for Property Searches) Regulations 2008, the following estimates have been used to calculate the property search fee for the financial year 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024:
Estimated total costs - £278,123.00
Estimated number of requests - 1,150
Based on this, the standard search fee for the year 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024 is £176.70 (Incl.VAT).
The above estimates are based on the costs involved in providing the service, the volume of searches received in the year to date of 2022, pro rataed with the expectation that this calculation would need to be reviewed at the end of the 23/24 financial year.
