We welcome petitions and recognise they are one way in which you can let us know your concerns. All petitions sent or presented to us will be acknowledged within 10 working days at which point we will set out what we plan to do with the petition.
It's recommended that as a first step you should contact your local district councillors to find out if they can be of assistance as an alternative to a petition. Or you can submit feedback to help us develop and review services.
If you do want to submit a petition, it must be about something we are responsible for. We cannot accept petitions about services provided by Kent County Council or other public bodies.
The issue must affect people living in all or part of the district.
We cannot accept petitions that:
- are defamatory, offensive or frivolous
- relate to court cases or legal proceedings
- relate to licensing or planning applications
- include confidential or exempt information.
If the petition is accepted, the petitioner will be invited to address the Scrutiny Committee (policy and performance). If the petition is rejected, the petitioner will be informed of the reasons why.
