Street Trading

We issue consents which allow you to sell goods on streets listed as Consent Streets - you must not sell anything on these streets without a consent.  We have not designated any streets as 'licensed streets' or 'prohibited streets'.

Apply for a street trading consent

We can't grant a consent to a person under the age of 17.

A street trading licence is valid for one year.

  • Grant of new consent: £494
£302 is payable on application and non-refundable. The remaining £192 will be payable when your application is approved
  • Renewal: £229

Occasional Street Trading

An occasional street trading consent application can now be accepted for up to 7 days for the fee of £130.

If you are planning a street market or wish to apply for an occasional street trading licence please contact the licensing team for further information.

  • Occasional: £130
  • Occasional Street Market: £200 up to 25 stalls £10 per stall thereafter

After you have applied

We will carry out a 28 day consultation where local residents and businesses may support or object to the application. If objections are received a committee will meet to make a decision on whether to grant the consent.

We may attach conditions to any consent to prevent:

  • obstruction to the street or danger to persons using it
  • nuisance or annoyance whether to persons using the street or otherwise
