Request
TPO/76/00003 was established on 5th April 1976 by Dover District Council and revoked on the 18th February 2025. May I receive the details, scope and wording of the original TPO and the name of the individual or organisation that placed the TPO back in 1976. Our intention is to honour this person (if it was an individual) with some kind of memorial in the wood itself. Further may I receive all the details, minutes, rulings and reasonings by DDC concerning the revocation of the TPO in February last.
Response
Please find a copy of the TPO document as requested attached. It was made by Canterbury City Council, and served on Dover DC (possibly as an interested party), in April 1976, this was around 2 years after the district councils were set up and we think the woodland was then within CCC’s boundary but have been advised by our legal team that there were boundary amendments made in 1979 and 1987 so it is likely that the woodland was transferred to DDC’s control (and ownership) as a result of one of these amendments.
Also attached is an email chain explaining the decision to remove the TPO and why this was taken.
