Request

I am writing to inquire about the need for a residential children's care home in your local authority.

As part of our commitment to providing quality care and support for vulnerable children in the community, we are considering establishing a residential care home to meet the needs of young people aged 6-18 who require a safe and nurturing environment. Before proceeding with our plans, we would greatly appreciate your insights and guidance on the current demand for such a facility. We believe that working in partnership with the local council and relevant authorities is crucial to ensuring that our services align with the needs of the community and adhere to regulatory standards. We are keen to understand any existing gaps in provision, the level of demand for residential care services for children in the area, and any specific requirements or considerations that we should take into account when planning our facility. We would be grateful if you could provide us with any relevant information:

1.     What is your lowest, highest, and average weekly amount paid for Children's Residential Care Home? Children with emotional and/or behavioural difficulties (EBD) Children with learning disabilities (LD) Children with mental disorders, excluding learning disability (MD) Children seeking asylum

2.    What is your hourly rate for 1:1 support?

3.    What type of Children's Residential Care Home needed in your local authority? (e.g., learning disabilities, mental disorders, emotional and/or behavioural difficulties)

4.    What is the average number of service users you refer for placements every week in each district?

5.    What areas would you prefer your providers to be situated in, and what is the furthest area you would accept?

6.   As a new service, who do we contact about setting up a Children's Residential Care Home?

7.   What type of services are you looking to commission now?

Response

Dover District Council does not hold the information you are seeking. The social care authority within our District is Kent County Council, who should be able to assist you and can be contacted at the following address: freedomofinformation@kent.gov.uk.
