I wish to know on what date, Dover District Council took ownership of the island at Elizabeth Street, Dover, CT17 9EG. The geo-polar co-ordinates of the island in question, are: 51.116684, 1.308564. I have been informed that the island was in private ownership until 2024. I have been informed that the island was previously owned by the concert venue situated on Elizabeth Street and ownership only transferred to the Council in 2024. I wish to know if this is correct.

According to records held by the Land Registry, the majority of the island is owned by National Highways Limited. The remainder is owned by Dover District Council. The part of the island owned by the Council was registered in 1963 and no sale has taken place since then. It could be that the Council owned the land prior to that date but it was registered with HM Land Registry in 1963. In addition, it appears that the land owned by the National Highways has been owned by them since 2005.
