Request
You say that political stalls are not permitted to hire space in the town centre.
I would like to know if someone could put up a political stall in a suitable public space, without hiring? - (such as a square or at the side of a street, assuming this did not block pedestrians or interfere with marketplaces etc).
If this is not allowed, what measures would the council take to prevent them? (eg moving them on, issuing fixed penalties, etc).
Response
Dover District Council do not allow political parties to hire our land. However, Kent County Council, as the highway authority, do allow political stalls to use land owned by them. You will need to contact Kent County Council for any further information about how they authorise these requests and what they do to prevent them. They can be contacted at freedomofinformation@kent.gov.uk.
