Request

1) how many seizures of illegal meat have been made each year since 2020.

2) Please provide the country of origin of all seizures, in a table format for each year.

3) Please provide the total weight of illegal meat seized each year.

Response

Please note that these figures represent illegal meat seizures that would have not been identified other than through the spot checks undertaken by Dover Port Health Authority at the point of entry (Dover). They are not to be confused with consignments of meat which are declared and notified to port health authorities at inspection points (known as Border Control Posts) and which are rejected for being non-compliant in accordance with GB’s import conditions (eg documentary issues with health certificates, being over temperatures, incorrectly labelled etc).
