Request

Recently about 1 km of public land was demolished along Wellington Parade Walmer.

  1. Is this issue being investigated?
  2. When do you expect to complete your investigation?
  3. Have you made contact with The Wellington Parade Residents Association ( or of similar name who are allegedly responsible for this vandalism?
  4. Will whoever carried out the wilfully vandalising of public beach face consequences and be made to replant suitable vegetation and bear the costs of suitable parking barriers?

Response

  1. Yes.
  2. The Council does not hold this information.
  3. The White Cliffs Countryside Partnership is in contact with the residents association. This does not mean DDC alleges the residents association is responsible.
  4. Unauthorised works on Council land are not permitted and may constitute an offence. The Council takes reports of potential offences on land/property owned by it for example, criminal damage, wildlife or conservation seriously and will work with relevant partners, including the Police, where necessary.
