Request

I would like to request the total spend by the council (or arms-length bodies, subsidiaries, trading companies, and any entity where the council is the majority shareholder or funder) by placing public notices in local print newspapers.

I would like to request the total spend for all public notices, often called statutory notices (that could encompass, but not limited to, traffic orders / planning notices / electoral notices / consultations / licensing advertisements / footpath diversions / council accounts or budget notices etc etc).

I would like to request the financial totals for the last two complete financial years and this year to date, broken down per year, and per individual newspaper title / publication name.

If you are able to confirm if you collect / monitor / know the circulations of the newspapers that would be fantastic.

Response

The placing of public notices in local newspapers is not undertaken centrally and is done by individual departments and therefore the information you have sort is not recorded or documented in a way that can be reported on. Public notices would be placed in the Kent Messenger Group of newspapers and the amount spent is available on the Council’s website as part of the payment to suppliers data at https://www.dover.gov.uk/Corporate-Information/Financial-Information/Payments-to-Suppliers/Payments-to-Suppliers.aspx.
