Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I am requesting the following information relating to asylum accommodation within your local authority area. This includes hotels, hostels, and dispersed community properties used under Home Office contracts.
1. Risk Notifications & Information‑Sharing
Copies of any risk‑notification protocols, guidance, or instructions received from:
- asylum accommodation contractors (e.g. Mears, Serco, Clearsprings)relating to occupant risk, safeguarding, or safety concerns.
- Details of any risk information the local authority is provided with before staff or contractors enter asylum accommodation properties.
- Any warnings, alerts, or risk classifications shared with the local authority about individuals placed in community‑based asylum accommodation.
2. Safeguarding & Staff Safety
- Copies of any internal guidance issued to council staff or contractors regarding visits to asylum accommodation properties.
- Records of any safety concerns, incidents, or near‑misses reported by local authority staff when attending these properties in the last three years.
- Details of any training or briefings provided to staff relating to safety, risk awareness, or safeguarding in asylum accommodation settings.
3. Oversight, Audits & Compliance
- Copies of any audit reports, compliance checks, or monitoring reviews carried out by the local authority relating to asylum accommodation providers in the last three years.
- Any correspondence or meeting notes between the local authority and the Home Office or accommodation contractors regarding:
- suitability of placements
- community safety concerns
- Details of any multi‑agency safeguarding meetings where asylum accommodation or occupant risk was discussed.
4. Complaints & Community Concerns
- The number of complaints or concerns received from residents, staff, or councillors relating to asylum accommodation properties in the last three years.
- A breakdown of the nature of these complaints (e.g. safety, antisocial behaviour, property conditions, safeguarding concerns).
Response
Under Section 1(1)(a) of the Freedom of Information Act, we have established that this information is not held. This is because Dover District Council has had no involvement in any asylum accommodation properties that may be in in our District and therefore we do not hold any of the information you have requested.
