Request

We understand that the Council was responsible for re-housing the residents of the Old Park estate and organised the demolition of the prefabricated houses, as well as the construction of the replacement housing. Our client was re-housed to Attlee Avenue which was a five minute walk from the Old Park Estate.

We also understand that the Council was in control of the demolition site. We are therefore making a Freedom of Information Request, pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act. We have also been directed to Dover District Council from Kent County Council that Dover is the relevant public authority for this FOI request.

We would like to request the following:

  1. All asbestos surveys in the location of the Old Park Estate from 1964;
  2. All details and documentation in relation to the demolition of the Old Park Estate including contracts and retainers;
  3. All details and documentation in relation to the development of housing on the former site of the Old Park Estate;
  4. Details of the company or companies who undertook the demolition and/or subsequent development in the Old Park Estate.

Response

Please find attached two applications located following a search based on the map provided.   One application was in 1950 (5 flats and 7 dwellings) and one dated 1958 (20 dwellings).  The attached documents are the only information we can locate based on the information provided, there is nothing relating to asbestos within either our Planning team or Building Control team.  You are able to view the planning site history, which has everything we have since 1948 to current, if you can locate the specific application I can direct this to our Planning team to look again: Dover District Council Historic Planning Decisions
