Request

This is a request made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. 

I have searched the Dover District Council website and publicly available planning documents and identified the following Article 4 Directions:

  • Dour Street Conservation Area
  • Nelson Street Conservation Area
  • Deal Middle Street Conservation Area
  • Victoria Road and Wellington Road Conservation Area
  • Kingsdown Conservation Area
  • Sandwich

I was able to locate the Article 4 Direction documents for all of the above except the Victoria Road and Wellington Road Conservation Area. I found a reference to the Direction within the Conservation Area Appraisal, but I was unable to locate the original Article 4 Direction document. 

Could you please:

  1. Confirm whether the above is a complete list of all current and any upcoming/proposed Article 4 Directions within Dover District Council's area.
  2. If any current or upcoming Article 4 Directions are missing from the above list, please provide a list of those Directions together with copies of the corresponding Article 4 Direction documents.
  3. Provide a copy of the current Article 4 Direction document for the Victoria Road and Wellington Road Conservation Area.
  4. Provide any associated GIS data or shapefiles showing the boundaries of all current or upcoming Article 4 Directions, if available.

Please note that superseded, expired, or revoked Directions are not required. 

I confirm that I have searched the Council's website and publicly available planning resources but have been unable to locate the requested Article 4 Direction document.

  1. Yes, it is a complete list of all Article 4 Directions that have been imposed on conservation areas as set out under Schedule 3 ‘Procedures for Article 4 Directions’ of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015. Please note that the Salutation in Sandwich has a separate Article 4 Direction that relates only to the grounds of the building (in addition to being covered by the general Direction which covers the town).

  3. This Conservation Area does not have an Article 4 Direction imposed on it.
