Request
Please could you provide a detailed breakdown of how council tax revenue has been allocated and spent by Dover District Council for the most recent financial year available.
Specifically, I would like this information to include:
- A breakdown of spending by department or service area (e.g. social care, education, waste management, highways, housing, etc.)
- The total amount of council tax collected for that period
- Any reports or documents that outline how council tax funds are distributed or allocated

This leaflet explains where the Council Tax goes: ddc-ctax-leaflet-2026-27-final.pdf (the breakdown is on page 2). You will see that only 9.2% of your Council Tax goes to the District Council. The Council’s Statement of Accounts for 2025/26 details our income and expenditure for the last finacial year, including the amount of Council Tax collected (this is only the Dover District Council element). This is online at Microsoft Word - Draft Statement of Accounts 2025-26. The budget for 2025/26 which shows the department breakdown can be found at Budget-2025-26-and-MTFP-2025-26-to-2028-29.pdf.
Please note that Social Care, Education and Highways are the responsibilty of Kent County Council and you will need to contact them about their spending on these areas.
