If you have a Blue Badge and need to park closer to your property, you can apply for a disabled parking bay. There is no charge for a disabled parking bay application.
Who can apply?
To get a disabled parking bay, you must meet the following criteria:
- you must hold a valid Blue Badge
- you must own the vehicle
- you must have a valid UK driving licence
- if you are not the driver of the vehicle, then the driver must be registered at your address along with exceptional mitigating circumstances
- if the application is for a child under 18, complete the application under a parent or carer's name
- if under 65 you must be getting the higher rate disability living allowance - mobility component, or the enhanced rate of the mobility component for personal independence payment (PIP)
- if over 65 you must be getting the higher rate disability living allowance - mobility component, or attendance allowance at the higher rate and/or other mobility allowance
- there must be no space available for parking your vehicle at or near your property, such as a garage or driveway
- there are parking problems within the road and you regularly have trouble finding a space near your home
- there must be no existing parking restrictions in place, such as yellow lines
- the bay is not required within the turning head of a cul-de-sac
- the width of the carriageway must be 6.3m or wider
- existing disabled parking bays must account for less than 5% of the available on-street parking
- the bay is not required at a location which may compromise highway safety such as on a bend, brow of a hill, or junction
- the road must be owned and maintained by Kent County Council.
A disabled parking bay can be used by anyone with a disabled Blue Badge. If we approve a bay, it won’t just belong to you.
