Affordable housing Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) adopted

Our Affordable Housing Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) was adopted by council on 24 June 2026.

The SPD has been developed to provide help and advice on how affordable housing should be delivered through the planning system.

Following the adoption of the 2026 SPD, a number of previous guidance documents were revoked.

Dover District Site Allocations

The planning policy team published the Site Allocations Storymap on 9 April 2026.

This provides up to date information on all allocations in the district, including sites allocated for housing, employment, mixed-uses, heritage, and gypsy and traveller sites. It replaces the section of the Development Newsletter below, formerly dedicated to allocated sites.

Planning and development newsletters

Our newsletter provides an update on key development sites and planning news within the Dover district. It is released twice a year, in spring and autumn, by the planning policy team.
