Adopted Development Plan

Current planning policies for the Dover district are set out in the statutory Development Plan which is made up of the following documents.


Dover District Local Plan to 2040

The Dover District Local Plan was adopted on 16 October 2024. It replaced the Core Strategy (2010), the Land Allocations Plan (2015) and ‘saved’ policies in the Dover District Local Plan (2002).

The adopted Local Plan is available to purchase in hard copy at a cost of £50 for local residents and £70 for non-residents, including postage.

Neighbourhood Plans

  • Langdon Neighbourhood Plan was made part of the Development Plan on the 4 March 2026.
  • Worth Neighbourhood Plan was made part of the Development Plan on the 28 January 2015.
  • Ash Neighbourhood Plan was made part of the Development Plan on the 15 September 2021.

The plans set out the vision for these areas/parishes and contain policies to guide the future development of these neighbourhood areas.


Kent County Council Minerals and Waste Local Plan

Kent County Council's (KCC) Minerals and Waste Local Plan sets out a vision and strategy for mineral provision and waste management in Kent.

KCC adopted the Kent Minerals and Waste Local Plan 2024 to 2039 on the 13 March 2025. This, along with the Kent Mineral Sites Plan 2020 and the relevant district/borough Local Plans, form the Development Plan for Kent.
