What is governance?
Governance is about how we ensure we are doing the right things, in an open, honest and accountable manner.
Good governance runs through every level of the organisation, including senior management and councillors.
Our Local Code of Corporate Governance brings together legislative requirements, governance principles and management processes, providing a framework for the proper conduct of our business in an accountable way.

Corporate Risk Management Strategy
Risk management is an integral and vital part of good governance and decision-making. This includes fostering a culture of integrity, accountability, transparency and collaboration, helping councillors and officers identify, assess and manage risks effectively.
Our risk management framework helps us identify, evaluate and manage uncertainty. It helps us prepare for potential challenges and opportunities, and forms an important part of our overall governance arrangements.
We recognise that taking some calculated risks is necessary to achieve our objectives. However, we take a prudent approach and make decisions within our internal control framework. Our Financial and Contract Procedure Rules help ensure that financial risks remain within acceptable levels.
