Heritage strategy

Dover District Heritage Strategy front page, with images including Dover's White Cliffs, Crabble Corn Mill, Richborough Roman Fort, Deal Castle and Sandwich.

The Dover district is known around the world for its heritage. The iconic White Cliffs and historic sites have played a major role in shaping the district’s development and identity.

We have adopted a strategy to help protect the heritage of the district and ensure it plays a key role in shaping future regeneration and development.

It provides guidance and recommendations on how the historic environment should be approached, and identifies key themes that contribute to local character, such as archaeology, agriculture and the coast.
