We are required to monitor the effectiveness of our plans and strategies and update our work programme on a regular basis. We do this by conducting site surveys of housing and commercial construction at the end of each monitoring period in April, and publishing the results in the Authority Monitoring Report (AMR).
The Authority Monitoring Report (AMR):
- sets out our progress against the Local Development Scheme (LDS), which details when and how we will produce new planning documents and policies
- provides a record of how the district is performing and how much development is taking place
- assesses how that meets our targets
- sets out projections for future development in the district
- is updated annually.
The AMR covers many topics which corresponds with the publication of our five-year housing land supply report and development newsletter, which you can read below.
The housing growth chapter was updated on 6 November 2025 to correct a factual error in the total extant and affordable housing extant figures for Deal, on pages 8 and 12.

Housing land supply
We are required to provide an annual update of the district's five year supply of housing land. The latest position is set out in the Housing Land Supply Statement 2025 to 2030 below. In summary, that report set out that we could demonstrate a supply of 5.8 years.
1 July 2026 update
In accordance with Paragraph 78c) of the NPPF, a 20% buffer is now required to be added to the need calculation for land supply purposes. When applied to the current 2025-2030 supply data included in the report below, this equates to a land supply of 5.2 years.
The 2026-2031 land supply position will be confirmed in due course.
