Residents can buy daily visitor permit books online allowing their guests to park in designated spaces while visiting (where resident parking zones are in place). This system helps manage parking and ensures visitors to restricted areas have a place to park.
A book of visitor parking permits (10 permits per book) is £40 and can be bought through the My Permits account. You no longer need to display a permit in your vehicle, our civil enforcement officers will look up your number plate on their handheld device.
We are gradually phasing out the hardcopy permits, and eventually you will only be able to buy them online. However, if you have a supply of paper permits, these will still be valid.
For a short time only, paper permits will still be available to buy at our Whitfield offices. A £5 admin fee applies and you’ll need to bring a council tax or utility bill showing your name and address.
How to apply for visitor permits
Before ordering your visitor permits, you must make a new permit application for 'visitor voucher books' in the My Permits account.
Proof of residency, for example a current council tax or utility bill, will need to be uploaded.
Register or log into My PermitsOnce you have successfully made your new permit application, you will see a blue 'P' icon on the front page of your account:
- click this 'P' icon and select the relevant permit, in this case 'visitor voucher books'
- book a visitor permit session by entering your visitor’s registration details and the date of the visit
- save regular visitors’ registration details in your account for quicker bookings in the future.
Top-up visitor permit books can be bought at any time. A £40 book will give you 10 sessions, one session per day.
