About your rent

All properties have a weekly rent that is due every Monday, although you can pay weekly, fortnightly or monthly in advance depending on what’s best for you.

You need to start paying your rent as soon as your tenancy begins. You can pay your rent in a range of different ways depending on how you want to pay.

If you wish to have a statement showing all your rent payments and rent charges you can also request this from the rent team.

If your account is in credit because you have overpaid your rent, you can request a refund by contacting the rent department.

If you pay weekly, you must have more than one week’s rent in credit. If you pay monthly, you must have more than one month’s rent in credit.

Please note that all credits have to be verified before they can be refunded and all refunds will be transferred into your chosen bank account (via the BACS system).

If a housing benefit is involved, this may mean a delay while we verify that there are no further alterations to be made to your claim. The refund may take up to 28 days to be processed.

If you owe any money to us, either council tax, housing benefit or former tenant arrears, this amount will be deducted from the refund.
