Latest advice For Attending At Burials and Cremations - Updated Tuesday 24th March 2020

We know these are difficult times, not least for those who want to say "goodbye" to loved ones at funerals. At the same time, you will be concerned that gathering at funerals could expose mourners to coronavirus. As with all walks of life at present, there is particular concern for the elderly, frail and those in vulnerable groups.

The health and welfare of funeral directors, church, burial and crematorium staff also has to be considered.

Government advice

The latest government advice restricts attendance at places of worship and religious ceremonies , except for funerals attended by immediate families. This guidance applies for three weeks from 23 March, at which point the Government will review the guidance.

Attending Services

In light of this advice, attendance at funerals at this time should be restricted to immediate family members. This includes spouse/partner, parents/carers, siblings (brothers/sisters), children and their partners.

In this fast moving situation it may be necessary to update this advice at any time.
