Publication Scheme

The Freedom of Information Act encourages public authorities to make information available to the public. Under the Act, we must adopt a Publication Scheme which shows the information we routinely make available and ensure it is published in line with the scheme.

It does not include every document we produce or all the information we hold.

What is a Publication Scheme

All public authorities are required to produce a Publication Scheme.

The scheme, which is adopted and maintained by us, must do three things:

  1. Set out the classes or types of information which we publish or intend to publish
  2. Explain the manner in which that information is or is intended to be published
  3. Specify whether the information is available free of charge or on payment of a fee.

Classes

Information is available if a link is shown, otherwise it can be obtained by contacting us at freedomofinformation@dover.gov.uk (opens in new tab)

How is the information published?

Most of the information we publish is available on our website. Hard copies of this information may also be obtained by contacting our offices.

Published information can be inspected free of charge. However, it may be necessary to make an appointment before inspecting documents

Charging

Wherever possible, the information identified in this scheme will be made available free of charge and, unless otherwise indicated, the publications are available at no cost.

Documents inspected at our offices can be accessed for free, although a fee may be charged if hard copies are requested and photocopying is required.

If a fee is required, the 20 working day timescale will be extended up to three months until the payment is recieved. There is no obligation for a public authority to provide information if the estimated cost of doing so would exceed 18 hours, or £450.
